The Crown Estate has bought furniture retailer Habitat out of its Regent Street store.
Habitat, owned by restructuring firm Hilco, has been on the central London street since 2006.
A spokesman for the Crown said: “The Crown Estate can confirm that following its approach to the owners of Habitat, it has concluded a transaction whereby Habitat will surrender its lease and leave Regent Street, in exchange for a premium.
“The acquisition forms part of The Crown Estate’s ongoing retail strategy for Regent Street that has turned the Street into an international retail destination.”
Habitat, which has 37-stores across the UK, said that the store not longer fitted with its strategy and that it would now focus its attention on it Tottenham Court Road, WC1, flagship store.
