Newcastle hosts the world’s largest half marathon, the Great North Run.
Historically, it is the home of world-changing innovations such as the lifeboat, the railways and the humble lightbulb.
This year, it will join Gateshead in co-hosting the Great Exhibition of the North – showcasing art, design and innovation from across the North.
