Regus is planning a unique business park teleworking centre with electronic links to a local settlement, allowing workers to use its services from home.
The serviced office specialist has signed up for the first prelet on Cambourne business park, Cambridgeshire, where it will open the countrys first business teleworking centre.
The centre has the capacity to be linked to 3,000 homes on the nearby Cambourne settlement by telephone and data lines, enabling teleworkers to access Regus services without leaving the house.
Mark Dixon, executive chairman of Regus, said: “Teleworking is increasingly being used as a way of improving efficiency and quality of life for workforces, and future advances in technology are likely to strengthen this trend further.”
The serviced office operator has signed a prelet agreement for a 2,787m2 (30,000 sq ft) office building on a 15-year lease at a rent of £199 per m2 (£18.50 per sq ft).
Developers Wrenbridge and Development Securities expect construction of the centre to commence shortly, with completion scheduled for April 2000.
Weatherall Green & Smith and FPDSavills acted for the developers.
