A 164-year-old former church in Scotland is among the stand-out properties coming up for sale at Bond Wolfe’s next auction, taking place on 20 October.
The property is in need of extensive repairs and renovation and so is listed with a guide price of just £30,000+, to attract investors and those looking to undertake a project.
The former Erskine Parish Church in Langholm in Dumfries and Galloway, was once the community’s North United Presbyterian Church. Built in the Gothic style in 1867, it has remained empty and unused for more than 30 years.
Ian Tudor, joint managing director for auctions at Bond Wolfe, said: “This is a remarkable building with an impressive tower and spire. It has been the focus of various plans over the years, and most recently planning permission was secured for conversion into four apartments, although this has now expired.
“The property may still be suitable for a similar residential use, subject to securing the appropriate planning permission. It is currently listed on the Buildings at Risk Register for Scotland.
“This is an opportunity to bring new life to a landmark property in a beautiful part of Scotland, and we are predicting considerable bidding interest when this property goes under the hammer.”
The 20 October sale will comprise 188 lots and be live-streamed via Bond Wolfe’s website, with remote bidding by proxy, telephone or internet.
