Rental price growth slowing in Greater London

Rental costs in Greater London may have reached an affordability ceiling, research by Homelet indicates, amid signs that the rise in rental prices is slowing.

The average rental price for new tenancies in the capital recorded its slowest rate of growth since March 2014, rising by 6.2% on the year in the three months to January. The southeast reported the highest rise, with rental prices up 7.2%.

The average rent paid on new tenancies in Greater London rose to £1,510 a month, against £933 in the southeast.
