The long awaited inspector’s report into rival proposals to develop a giant shopping mall in Bracknell has been sent to environment secretary John Prescott.
The report contains the inspector’s decision on the public inquiry into Allied London and Legal and General’s competing retail proposals for the centre of the Buckinghamshire new town. The inquiry closed almost exactly a year ago. Allied London has proposed 73,760 sq m (794,000 sq ft) of mixed use development. L&G’s scheme, which is supported by Bracknell council, covers 167,220 sq m (1.8m sq ft), incorporating 102,190 sq m (1.1 m sq ft) of retail.
