A Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors’ (RICS) study of more than 250 English and Welsh estate agents found that more than 10% reported house price rises of over 5% in the first quarter.
The RICS said this had happened for only the second time in 20 years. The first time was in 1988. It denied the housing market was repeating the late 1980s boom.
