Residential rents throughout Britain have reached record highs and are expected to rise still further this year.
The average rent outside London has reached £1,172 per calendar month, up almost 10% since the start of last year, according to Rightmove.
Within the capital, the average rent now stands at £2,480 a month, another record, while inner London rents have broken the £3,000-a-month barrier for the first time.
