Morrison jv sells portfolio
Morrison Residential Properties, a joint venture between Morrison Homes and Bank of Scotland, has sold a portfolio of 465 units across Scotland to CapitalTech for £25m. Morrison plans to create a new jv with Bank of Scotland to invest in other portfolios.
£1bn property manager created
Hawksworth Management has bought a majority stake in Croydon-based property management company Anderton & Son. The move will create one of the largest residential management companies in the South. The total value of property assets managed by the group will exceed £1.2bn.
Western Airfield sold for £5m
Persimmon has bought the 400-acre (162ha) Western Airfield site in Western-Super-Mare, Somerset, from Arthur Andersen for £5m. Persimmon is expected to make a planning application for residential development in the new year.
‘Green’ home bill opposed
ARLA has come out against the Home Energy Conservation Bill. If the bill became law, it would impose hotel licensing on all houses in multiple occupation. According to ARLA, 13% of all rental properties are occupied by sharers.
House starts increase
Applications to build new homes this October were up by 21% on the same month last year, according to statistics released by the National House-Building Council. A total of 16,090 applications were made in October, compared with 13,333 in 2000. Private-sector starts for the month rose 23%.
