Residents of 242 flats in Peckham, south London, have been told they need to vacate the properties because the tower blocks are at risk of collapse in the case of a gas explosion in one of the flats.
The problem was discovered during safety checks following the Grenfell Tower fire. Southwark council has had the gas supply to the four tower blocks cut off.
Surveyor and fire safety expert Arnold Tarling said he thought it likely that many other blocks had similar problems.
