Resolution drives home Uber letting in City fringe

Resolution Property has signed Uber as its latest tenant in the 600,000 sq ft Moretown office hub, E1.

The taxi company has agreed a five-year lease for 8,500 sq ft on the ground floor of the 87,162 sq ft building 2 – one of six buildings that form the office hub next to Tower Hill, on the fringe of the City of London.

Resolution Property acquired Moretown in 2016 and has begun to redevelop the estate into a mixed-use campus.

In November 2021, the company completed a Cat A+ refurbishment of vacant areas. Tenants that took space included Gensler, Ipsos, Thales, Sky and Handelsbanken.

The ground-floor office at Moretown, which is just north in of Uber’s HQ in Aldgate Tower, will become its new “Greenlight Hub”. It will serve as a physical location that drivers can report to for onboarding or assistance with rideshare, which will be relocated from its current premises.

Resolution Property said the deal with Uber highlighted the strength of the City fringe office market. It added: “Despite being just a short walk from the City of London, the competitive rents available at Moretown make this a compelling alternative for those seeking City quality at an attractive price. Situated within minutes of Tower Hill Tube station and with access to on-site facilities, it also benefits from the nearby popular leisure offer at St Katharine Docks.”

Resolution Property was advised by BH2 and Allsop; CBRE represented Uber.
