Retail property expert launches London consultancy

Former Colliers head of London retail agency and Shackleton co-founder Rob Fay has set up a new retail advisory firm called Londonsuper, entering a market that is “ripe for disruption”.

The firm is aiming to introduce “a range of transformative ideas and services” to support the London market’s recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic. Those range from dual tenancy and pivoting shop fits to de-risked deals for owners and occupiers.

The firm focuses on advising landlords on leasing strategy, retail trends, and architectural decisions, and tenants on their property strategies.

The firm, based at 25 Old Burlington Street in Mayfair, W1, said it promotes “innovative” partnership approaches that unite owners and occupiers “at a time of huge change and opportunity” in the industry.

Londonsuper added that it is embracing “cutting-edge” marketing approaches that match international and UK brands with the most relevant sites in the capital.

Clients include fashion brands A Bathing Ape, Folk, YMC, The NBA, Mackintosh, Underground Shoes, Irregular Choice and Evisu. Companies in the food and beverage space include Folie, Oystermen, Socap, Little Creatures, House of Cans, Crate and Store Street Espresso.

The firm is working alongside landlords including The Pollen Estate, Redevco, Redchurch Property, Hondo Enterprises, The Berners Allsopp Estate and Warrior Group.

Fay said: “Our arrival on the London retail property scene coincides with a new era of growth for the industry after a tumultuous period. We understand landlords and retailers are looking to establish tenancies on flexible terms that meet the needs of both parties; for example, we are big advocates of sustainable mixed-use concepts that help neighbourhoods to thrive.

“We are passionate about London and our in-depth knowledge of the ever-changing retail and restaurant sector informs our creative approach. Our team adds value through best-in-class property advice based on experience and a great track record of delivering places where people want to spend their time and money. As we grow, we aim to reinvent the way the industry markets itself by adopting cutting-edge techniques to connect brands and landowners in fresh ways.”

Fay has more than 20 years’ retail property experience. Most recently, he co-founded Shackleton in 2012 before leaving to set up Londonsuper.

The team has worked on London estates including Spitalfields, Seven Dials, Savile Row, Redchurch Street and Golborne Road.

They include: Larissa Scotting, assistant surveyor and marketing advisor across a number of sectors; Richard Ingham, professional services consultant with expertise in rent reviews and lease renewals; and Hayden McDonald, an architect working in retail.
