Victoria Gate opens
Hammerson’s 575,000 sq ft Victoria Gate retail and leisure centre in Leeds opens its doors on October 20. Anchored by John Lewis it has also attracted a host of new names to the city.
Night tube
This autumn more of London’s tube lines will join the Victoria and Central lines in operating a 24-hour service at the weekend. Bars, clubs, restaurant and retail opening times are expected to expand with an anticipated £360m boost to the economy.
Decision due
A planning decision by South Gloucestershire Council on the £300m extension of Cribbs Causeway out-of-town shopping centre is expected by the end of the year. The decision was deferred in February in the face of opposition by neighbouring councils including Bristol City Council.
Pop-up top chefs
Not so much food trucks and market stalls but five-star hotels who are inviting top chefs to take up short residencies. Michelin-starred Spanish chef Albert Adrià has already had a 50-day residency at the Café Royal, W1, with tickets going for £150.
