Retail sales growth fell to its lowest level on record last month.
Figures from the British Retail Consortium and KPMG showed that retail sales had risen by 0.3 per cent in July, down from a 1.6 per cent increase in the same month last year. It was the lowest July figure since records began in 1995 and came after the worst June on record.
