Retailers are pulling out the stops in order to welcome Chinese visitors during the Golden Week holiday, with Westfield hiring Chinese-speaking concierges.
A spokeswoman for the company said the average shopper from China was now buying 10 designer items compared with five previously.
The UK offers great value for Chinese travellers, VisitBritain’s chief executive, Sally Balcombe, said. Sterling has dropped by 12% against the Chinese yuan since June’s Brexit vote.
