Barclays Private Equity is believed to have appointed KPMG to advise the private equity firm on a strategic review of Original Factory Shop.
The clothing retailer has about 78 department stores in and around market towns and retail parks across Britain.
The Daily Telegraph says the business could be bought for an estimated £70m-£80m.
