RIAS calls for inspections of PFI public buildings

Local authorities in Scotland should carry out inspections of all public buildings built using private finance initiatives, the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland warns.

The warning comes after the publication of a report on building standards in 17 PFI schools in Edinburgh, which followed the collapse of a wall at a school in the city.

The report blamed the problems on a lack of supervision and on cost-cutting.
