The richest people in UK property are now worth more than £300bn, according to this year’s Estates Gazette Rich List.
The wealth of the 250 entrants totals £305.9bn, up from £218.3bn in 2014. The 40% rise is the biggest of any rich list in the UK since it was started in 1988.
EG Rich List compiler, Dr Philip Beresford, who also compiles the Sunday Times Rich List, said: “The amount of wealth on the list shows the extraordinary attraction of the London commercial and residential market to overseas billionaires.”
This compares with a total of £547.1bn for the 1,000 names on the Sunday Times Rich List – also a record – and up 5.4% on 2014.
This year also features 60 billionaires on the list. In 2009 there were just 10.
The full list of entries will feature in Estates Gazette’s 2015 Rich List, published this Friday.
