Richardsons strengthen grip on Birmingham’s prime leisure pitch

Richardson Developments has finally revealed its plans for the £10m redevelopment of the Hyatt Gardens site on Birmingham’s leisure hot spot of Broad Street.

The scheme, which increases the developer’s investment in the Broad Street area to £80m, will comprise 2,322 sq m (25,000 sq ft) of restaurant and café/bar facilities in a four-storey building. Alongside this, the developer, working with Cordwell Properties, will also refurbish the existing Glassworks building to provide restaurant facilities overlooking the canal at Gas Street Basin.

Previously, Richardson Cordwell has developed the Regency Wharf scheme on Broad Street and the Five Ways multiplex leisure project.

Malcolm Wilcox of Richardson Cordwell said the scheme would be aimed at the top end of the restaurant market. “This is the last remaining prime development site on Broad Street and we will further enhance Birmingham’s growing reputation as a first-class conference city capable of providing the finest facilities in the UK.”
