Richborough Estates has hired James Carpenter to head up its new planning team.
Carpenter (pictured centre) was formerly head of planning for Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council. He joins Richborough Estates as planning director, responsible for planning strategy.
He will lead a new team of six who will support identifying, acquiring and delivering consent on sites suitable for residential development.
Paul Campbell, joint managing director at Richborough Estates, said: “Every land opportunity is different and we need to ensure that we have a team in place with a diverse range of skills and capabilities who will be able to identify sites and bring them through the planning process swiftly and to the greatest benefit of existing communities and prospective homeowners.”
Richborough Estates aims to sell £67m of land this year, with consent for approximately 1,400 homes. The Birmingham-based strategic land company currently has around 100 active projects, largely focused in the West Midlands.
