Richborough Estates has sold a 17-acre development site near Matlock in Derbyshire to William Davis Homes.
The site is valued at around £4m and was promoted by Richborough Estates on behalf of the Presentation Sisters Trustees, an order of nuns whose convent is situated adjacent to the development plot.
Funds from the land sale will go towards the upkeep of the convent building and enable the Sisters to continue their charitable activities across the country.
The site has planning permission for 110 homes, though William Davis Homes secured reserved matters planning consent for 86 homes to incorporate more family homes.
Steve Louth, director at Richborough Estates, said: “We feel confident that this development will be a great addition to Matlock and provide much-needed homes to the region.”
Work is expected to commence on site later this month.
