Andrews & Robertson’s December auction produced prices well above guides for two properties offered by the London borough of Richmond.
A vacant bungalow in Hampton, Middlesex was guided at £290,000-plus but a burst of last-minute bidding took the end price to £318,500. And a block of garages in Hanworth, guided at £50,000, sold for £98,500.
Meanwhile, a Peabody Trust property in Fulham Palace Road, W6, which had failed to sell through another auction house, sold for £177,000.
The sale was held at London’s New Connaught Rooms and achieved £14m and a 62% success rate. Auctioneer Andrew Smith said that there did not seem to be much appetite for some traditional stock but that local authority and housing association lots had still sold well.
