The RICS has named Nicholas Maclean as its next senior vice president.
Maclean, who is chair and managing director of CBRE in the Middle East and North Africa, previously chaired the Levitt review and served as interim chair of the governing council. He also represented the Middle East and Africa region on GC for three years and is an APC counsellor and assessor.
Maclean is currently interim chair of the membership services committee at RICS, a role he will step down from before assuming the SVP role.
He will join president elect Tina Paillet and current senior vice president Justin Sullivan to form the organisation’s 2024 presidential team. He will serve a 12-month term as SVP ahead of becoming president elect from January 2025 and RICS president in 2026.
Maclean has also served as the Scottish government’s trade and investment envoy to the United Arab Emirates, and as chair of trustees for the Lillian Sutton Bequest to the property industry’s Story of Christmas charity.
Maclean said: “I will be looking to harness this new platform to progress key priorities impacting members. This will include, amongst others, working with governments and stakeholders to influence policy, shaping a more inclusive profession, and ensuring a strong pipeline of future talent.”
RICS president Ann Gray said: “The presidential team is much more than three individuals. Nick will bring another perspective to RICS’ leadership, adding his unique experiences to those of Tina and Justin. I am confident as a trio they will continue the positive momentum we have achieved on our transformation journey to date.”
