RICS council appoints Steve Williams as president

New York surveyor Steve Williams has been appointed RICS president at the institution’s annual governing council meeting.

The meeting also agreed to the appointment of Graham Chase of Chase & Partners to the role of senior vice-president, beating outside candidate Tony Towell, a building surveyor.

Aston Rose’s John Williams, who earlier this year became the first senior vice-president of the institution not to become the recommended candidate, dropped out of the race after failing to be nominated independently last week.

Williams beat official senior vice-presidential nominee Delva Patman to the more junior role last year.

However, both Towell and Patman have  now become vice-presidents, along with Martin Hayter, Chris Shaw, Peter Goodacre, and David Tuffin.
