RICS figures expected to report rise in house prices

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors’ house price report for April is due out tomorrow.

It is expected to show a balance of 14% of surveyors seeing a rise in prices rather than a fall in April. The figure was 13% in March.

Rightmove says house prices have risen by 2% in the past month in a survey published today. It says it is revising its projection for price gains in 2006 from 5% to 8%.

This is because the supply of attractive homes for sale is not keeping pace with demand. New figures from Your Move show demand to-date this year was 25% higher than in 2005.
