Ridgeford revs up Moxon plans

Moxon-Street-Marylebone-Hall

Long-awaited plans for the redevelopment of the Moxon Street car park, W1, have this week been submitted to Westminster city council.

Developers Ridgeford and Concord Pacific have proposed a £250m Simon Bowden-designed scheme comprising 79 homes, of which 25 would be affordable.

Around 45,000 sq ft of shops are also planned at the 0.83-acre Marylebone site, as well as a community hall to house the existing farmers market.

Ridgeford and Concord agreed to buy the site in the summer for around £100m following controversy over whether the council should sell it.

A spokesman for Ridgeford Developments said: “We have worked closely with the community to create a development that reflects their aspirations. We have been working with the London Farmers Market to ensure they remain an integral part of the area. Our plans for the site include improvements to public space and a community hall which we will hand over to Westminster City Council.

“The hall is where the London Farmers Market would set up every Sunday,  with one-third of the stalls under cover and the rest in a pedestrian-friendly street setting on Cramer Street, St Vincent Street and the south of Aybrook Street. We are working with Mark Handley from the London Farmers Market and assisting them with their forthcoming planning application for the permanent market.”
