Rightacres plans Cardiff tower

Cardiff-Central-Square-THUMBPlans for Cardiff’s tallest tower at the city’s landmark £400m Central Square development are being prepared by developer Rightacres.

Rightacres is seeking investment for an £85m housing development, The Blades, and a £150m mixed-use project, The Interchange.

Estates Gazette revealed in 2013 that the council and Rightacres were planning a circa 1m sq ft development on the site, which has since been anchored by BBC Wales.

The £85m housing block would rise to nearly 300 ft on a plot between Wood Street and the Millennium Stadium, adjacent to the existing HQ of the Western Mail.

It would cover 250 homes next to a 460-unit student block.

The Interchange sits on the plot of an existing NCP car park and Marland House, and would cover 200,000 sq ft of grade A office space, residential space and a 100-bed hotel.

Work on the project could start in January pending planning permission.
