Sir John Ritblat has been appointed as the new chairman of the London Business School’s Governing Body.
Current chairman, Mr Vanni Treves, finishes his term of office on 15th April 2006, at which time Sir John will commence his role.
A member of the LBS’s Governing Body since 1990, Sir John has served as deputy chairman since 2003.
Sir John said: “During Vanni’s time as Chairman, London Business School consolidated its position as one of the world’s top ranked business schools.
“We are very grateful for his skilled leadership.
“My priority as Chairman will be to build upon this platform, commencing with the search for a new Dean to succeed Professor Laura Tyson, who will be leaving in December 2006.”
Sir John is chairman of British Land. He became Managing Director of Union Property Holdings in 1969, and Chairman and Managing Director of British Land in 1971 following its merger with Union.
He is also the non-executive Chairman of Colliers CRE PLC.
