Roads ‘essential’ for rural life survival

Environmentalists shoot themselves in the foot when they protest against road building in the country side, according to a new book Another Country.

The book, published by the Social Affairs Unit, describes road builders as the real defenders of the countryside because it argues that to neglect rural roads would damage the environment and reduce living standards.

It maintains roads are essential to the survival of rural life.
