Hotelier, Brexit supporter and VAT-free shopping campaigner Rocco Forte has said he might leave the UK for Italy.
The owner of two five-star hotels in the UK and nine in Europe said the current government had failed to make Brexit work, while the prospect of a Labour government has him seriously considering a move to Italy to focus on expansion there instead.
Forte, who has persuaded 150 businesses to join his VAT campaign, including Mark & Spencer and Selfridges, said scrapping the tourist perk was “just one small example of shooting ourselves in the foot”.
