Rockeagle has announced plans for a 3,716 sq m (40,000 sq ft) factory outlet at the former Wilton carpet factory near Salisbury, Wiltshire.
The Exeter-based developer has paid £1m for the carpet factory’s former mill and dye works, which are now surplus to requirements. It plans to spend an additional £2m refurbishing the historic buildings as A1 retail units.
The site lies at the junction of the A36 and A30, both busy tourist routes. As well as a resident catchment population of 4.5m, Salisbury attracts 2.5m tourists each year.
- This is the second deal between the Wilton Carpet Factory and Rockeagle. In July the carpet manufacturer bought the freehold of its Southampton site from Coats Viyella and negotiated a development agreement with Rockeagle. Wilton will occupy part of the site and other units will be let to retailers on completion of the scheme in Spring 1997.
