Rockwell Property has received planning permission for a 30-storey hotel-led development in Westferry, E14.
The London Borough of Tower Hamlets granted permission for a building at 82 West India Dock Road, next to Westferry DLR station. It will include a 400-bedroom hotel – including a ground-floor restaurant, café and bar – and 66 one-, two- and three-bedroom flats, 35% of which will be affordable.
Designed by Simpson Haugh & Partners, the development – on what has been a derelict site for more than a decade – will also include extensive public realm and landscaping works to deliver half an acre of gardens.
Donal Mulryan, founder of Rockwell, said: “Our vision for 82 West India Dock Road will breathe new life into a neglected site that has been derelict for many years. This inspiring new building includes a hotel that will bring new jobs and business to the local area, in addition to much needed new homes for the local community in an inspiring new building.”
Construction on the site is due to start in summer 2019.
