Rodamco is preparing to sell half its share in the 46,450 sq m (500,000 sq ft) Shires shopping centre in Leicester which the company three months ago, as part of the £249m Imry portfolio it bought from Barclays Bank.
The Shires is the main centre in the city and sources believe the share of the investment Rodamco are marketing could fetch £80m.
Equitable Life and Commercial Union are just two of the UK funds which are thought to be in the market for a large prime retail investment.
