Engineering company Roger Bullivant has acquired the former Sandvik manufacturing plant in Swadlincote, Derbyshire for £8m.
RB, which is part of the Vinci group, has acquired the freehold of the 22-acre site on Hearthcote Road and will relocate its head office operation from Drakelow, south Derbyshire.
The site has lain vacant since Sandvik ceased production in 2014, transferring operations to Northern Ireland.
The site comprises a detached office building, alongside a number of industrial buildings including a 182,000 sq ft fabrication building and a 139,000 sq ft production/assembly building.
Jon Ryan-Gill, partner at Knight Frank, which acquired the site on behalf of RB, said: “Having made the decision to relocate its main manufacturing facility from Drakelow, Roger Bullivant needed a new home that could not only accommodate its existing operation and 400-strong workforce, but could also provide the space for future business expansion.”
Lambert Smith Hampton advised Sandvik.
