Roger Southam has been appointed general manager of Avata Property Services, based in the Cayman Islands.
Avata provides property management services including strata management, luxury villas, commercial management and properties for sale and lease. Southam will lead the operations for the company based in George Town, Grand Cayman.
Southam relocated to the Caribbean island at the end of 2018. He said: “This is a complete change.
“The sun is shining permanently, which is delightful, so that was appealing. Property prices are holding up and moving nicely, there are a lot of people from various parts of the world who use it as a holiday base or have rental properties.
“A lot of people come from the States, Canada and the UK. It has a population of about 65,000 and the island is only 100 square miles. It’s tiny, but great fun.”
Avata was founded in 2011. The company has eight employees.
Southam worked at Savills for two years after the agent acquired his residential management business Chainbow, providing specialist residential property management and consultancy to clients including Taylor Wimpey, Englander Group and Westrock.
He left the agent last April and has continued to work on a consultancy basis with Savills in Ireland, among other clients. Southam is also the founder and a board member of the trade union UK Apartment Association.
