Rogers takes stand against Iraq war

World-renowned architect Richard Rogers has taken out a full-page advert in a national newspaper in opposition to a war in Iraq.

The advert will appear in The Guardian on Friday 14 February – not only Valentine’s Day, but also the day before London’s anti-war march.

More than a hundred signatories, including actors, artists, film and theatre directors, musicians and members of the House of Commons and Lords, have pledged their support, along with a contribution towards the cost of the advertisement.

Any extra money raised will be donated to the work of Medecins du Monde in Iraq.

Rogers’ designs for phase three of Chelsfield’s Paddington Basin development received planning permission this month.
