Rolls-Royce’s plans to build a network of “mini” nuclear reactors around Britain is set to move ahead this week following regulator assessment of the design proposals.
The safety of the design – which proposes the development of as many of 16 reactors, each of which could power around one million homes – will be scrutinised as Rolls-Royce argues it can cut the costs of nuclear power by building parts in factories and then assembling them on site.
