A planning application has been submitted to develop the former Rolls-Royce East Works site in south Gloucestershire into a 1m sq ft industrial-led, mixed-use scheme.
Origin3, acting on behalf of MSF Filton, which is a joint venture between Marcol and the St Francis Group, submitted the application this week.
The 65-acre site in Filton, between Bristol and Gloucester, received outline consent in 2009. In 2012 the consent was extended for three years.
Prologis submitted the initial plans and had agreed to buy the site for £40m but the deal fell through owing to the economic downturn.
The plans include 621,093 sq ft of industrial and distribution units, 234,332 sq ft of offices, a 99,653 sq ft hotel as well as car dealerships and ancillary space.
If the plans are approved, work could start on site by the end of 2015.
The Rolls-Royce site is to the immediate east of the Cribbs Patchway new neighbourhood, on which are planned around 5,700 homes and 123 acres of employment land, to be developed over the next ten years.
In addition, the neighbouring Filton Airfield is being marketed by Alder King with the potential for 2,500 homes as well as commercial development.
Gareth Williams of MSF Filton said: “The delivery of this site is an important part of the economic strategy for the area and will help create a substantial number of jobs across a range of sectors.”
