Marks & Spencer Outlet will begin work on a 10,000 sq ft store in the first week of September and is scheduled to open in November of this year.
The Clacton Factory Outlet was acquired from administration by ROM Capital Group in January 2008. Since then, ROM has embarked on a number of initiatives aimed at revamping the centre.
It has also secured lettings to Merc Clothing, Glitter Princess and Yeoman’s Outdoor Leisure.
The centre is more than 70% let, up from 51% when ROM acquired it.
Robert Whitton, chairman of ROM Capital Group, said: “These fantastic new stores, combined with a series of events as part of our marketing programme, have been the main drivers behind renewed interest in the Outlet Centre and are creating a real ‘buzz’ with both our customers and tenants alike.”
Outline planning permission has been granted to develop 9.68 acres of land adjacent to the centre for uses including restaurants, a car showroom, garden centre and trade-counter outlets.
Discussions are taking place about developing a digital six-screen multiplex cinema.
