Berkshire- and Surrey-based Romans sold more than £2.5m worth of property at its second- ever auction, held last week in Bracknell.
Auctioneer Guy Charrison said 300 people packed the room at the Coppid Beech Hotel in Bracknell for the first of five auctions planned for the year by Romans. Admitting that bidding “was a little bit slow to start with”, Charrison said he was pleased to have sold 78% of the 18 mainly residential lots.
“As the first auction after start of the war, the sale was good, really. The market is difficult at the moment for everyone,” he said.
He was particularly pleased with the £650,000 sale of a part-vacant office building in Kings Road, Reading, which produces £18,240 pa. It has been on the market with commercial agents “for quite some time”.
A bungalow on 0.25 acres in York Road, Camberley, beat its £275,000 guide to sell for £290,000, in spite of a planning application for two three-bedroom houses being “recommended” for approval rather than determined.
