Rosemarie MacQueen steps down from Westminster

Rosemarie MacQueen is to leave Westminster city council after 38 years of service.

The strategic director for the built environment has today announced her resignation.

MacQueen said: “I am immensely proud to have played my part as custodian of the built environment of a world-class city that has a thriving and diverse economy, a mixed residential community, the largest office market in the UK and more theatres than any other city in Europe.”

She has been at the forefront of the planning department, which receives around 12,500 applications every year.

Councillor Robert Davis, deputy leader and cabinet member for the built Environment, added: “Rosemarie has been a leading figure in the planning and development sector, successfully overseeing the renewal of large parts of central London whilst retaining an unswerving commitment to preserving what is best in our nation’s heritage.”

Councillor Philippa Roe, leader of Westminster, said: “I join councillor Davis in thanking Rosemarie for her extraordinary service and unswerving commitment to the city of Westminster.”
