Rothesay Life confirms Cheesegrater exit

Post Building, WC1

Rothesay Life has confirmed it is moving out of the Cheesegrater, EC3, and taking up premises in Holborn.

The insurance firm is to move to Oxford Properties and Brockton Capital’s Post Building, WC1, as EG reported in November.

Rothesay occupies around 13,500 sq ft on level 25 of the Leadenhall Building, better known as the Cheesegrater. It will take a floor at the Post Building (pictured) offering 50,000 sq ft of office space.

Rents at the Post Building, which is still under construction, are quoted in the high £90s per sq ft.

The Post Building is a 320,000 sq ft mixed-use redevelopment of a former Royal Mail sorting office. It includes 260,000 sq ft of offices, private roof terraces on every floor and a 7,000 sq ft rooftop garden. It is due for completion by the end of this month.

Following the prelet to Rothesay Life, 66% of the office space at the Post Building is pre-leased, with just under 90,000 sq ft remaining.

Tom Pearce, managing director at Rothesay Life, said, “It’s a striking space with a very large footprint which can accommodate the collaborative way in which we work as a company. We expect this to be a long-term move which offers considerable scope for our continued growth.”

Rothesay Life was advised by Cushman & Wakefield. Oxford and Brockton Capital were advised by CBRE, Pilcher Hershman and JLL as joint leasing agents. CBRE and Davis Coffer Lyons are joint leasing agents for the retail and restaurant space.
