Royal British Legion at the vanguard at Strettons sale

Strettons said strong bidding for residential properties and land sites drove sales at its October auction, helping it to raise £8.5m.

The auctioneer sold 54 of the 74 lots it offered, representing a 71% success rate. The highest price achieved on the day was for a predominantly residential conversion scheme in Battersea, SW11, offered on behalf of The Royal British Legion, which sold for £1.15m – more than £300,000 above its guide price.

Vacant houses in Enfield, Dagenham and Walthamstow also sold for £381,000, £240,000 and £242,000 – all above the guide price. Andrew Brown, auction director at Strettons, blamed “mixed bidding” on the day on “current market conditions”.

Strettons’ next sale takes place on 12 December at the Grand Connaught Rooms, Great Queen Street, WC1.
