Royal Doulton plans to close two factories in the Potteries becauseof trading difficulties caused by the high pound and the Asian financialcrisis.
The two factories closing are at St Mary’s and Paladin, which employ720 staff in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire.
The company closed two plants in the same area last summer. It nowhas just three. The company is opening three factory outlet stores inBridgend, South Wales, Dover and Cheshire Oaks, near Chester, in anattempt to reduce stocks.
