The Royal Mail is looking for 3,716 sq m (80,000 sq ft) of offices in Birmingham city centre. It has mounted a search for premises to house its city centre operations once its has moved its main business to a new processing centre in Newton, Aston.
Dave Welch, senior estate surveyor at Royal Mail Property Holdings, said he would prefer to take single occupation of two city centre buildings of 5,574 sq m (60,000 sq ft) and 1,858 sq m (20,000 sq ft) for administration and delivery offices, respectively.
“We would like a large degree of parking space and somewhere that is easily accessible to staff,” he said.
Weatherall Green & Smith is selling the Royal Mail’s 74,320 sq m (800,000 sq ft) city centre sorting office on Royal Mail and Blucher Streets.
