Royal Mail Group is seeking planning permission for a 300,000 sq ft distribution centre in Chorley, Lancashire.
The proposed building at Revolution Park would be the North West processing centre for Royal Mail subsidiary Parcelforce.
The postal operator said plans submitted to Chorley borough council are not finalised.
A Royal Mail spokesman said: “If consent is granted, any plans would take into account the local green belt and we believe they would be in keeping with the council’s aspiration for the site.”
