Rumford secures new letting at Liverpool’s 20 Chapel Street

Developer Rumford Investments has let 3,165 sq ft at 20 Chapel Street in Liverpool to accountant Jacksons in the first deal at the scheme for 12 months.

The firm will occupy the 2nd floor of the 155,000 sq ft building following a move from its current offices on Edmund Street.

The letting comes just weeks after Rumford hired former King Sturge partner Alastair Newman as commercial marketing consultant.

It is thought Rumford is now operating a more flexible approach to terms in order to fill the building, where more than 115,000 sq ft remains available after its completion in late 2006.

Newman said: “We were able to demonstrate how responsively we can make a deal happen, accommodating the practice within a week of the terms being agreed.”

The building, part of the Unity development, achieved a record Liverpool rent of £22 per sq ft in 2007 but the terms of the current deal are unknown.

Other tenants include Barclays, Bank of Ireland, architect Broadway Malyan, stockbroker Panmure Gordon and accountant Ernst & Young.

DTZ and Hitchcock Wright & Partners are letting agents.
