J Sainsbury Developments and Castle City Estates have secured outline planning approval for Telford Forge Retail Park, a £40m shopping and leisure park in Shropshire.
The joint venture partners are working with the site’s owners, the Commission for New Towns and Sainsbury’s, on the 31,121 sq m (335,000 sq ft) scheme.
Once detailed consent is granted a new J Sainsbury’s store will be built on site. This will allow an existing 6,503 sq m (70,000 sq ft) store to be demolished, Sainsbury’s to relocate, and an access point to be added at its location.
Occupiers committed to the park include Currys, PC World, Courts, JJB Sports and Boots. An area on the plot has been identified for restaurants and a foodcourt. The joint venture will buy most of the 13ha (32 acre) site from the CNT.
Chesterton and Angermann Goddard & Loyd are letting agents on the park.
