Sainsbury’s has been accused of exploiting a loophole to keep some Argos stores trading during the lockdown.
Government restrictions forbid all non-essential shops from opening. However, as supermarkets are an exception, Sainsbury’s has managed to continue trading in Argos stores that form part of its supermarkets.
The chain has 600 supermarkets, 289 of them with Argos outlets.
While the government has published a list of what shops can remain open, it has not said what products can be sold within those shops.
