The Devon seaside town known to some as Chelsea-on-Sea has taken drastic action to stop the rise of second homes.
Salcombe, known for its sailing and gin, now has a condition in its neighbourhood plan insisting that all new homes have section 106 agreements attached to them, prohibiting their use as second homes in perpetuity.
The policy was voted in by South Hams district council.
The average wage in Salcombe is below the national average, but the average home in the town costs about £750,000.
